Nehemiah 6:1-9
1 Now it came to pass, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up upon the gates;)
2 That Sanballat and Geshem set unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.
3 And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and some down to you?
4 Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.
5 Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand;
6 Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu said it, that thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king according to these words.
7 And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jesusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words, Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.
8 Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart.
9 For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.

The first and foremost, they'd say, "what are you?", you know, and then
We need to be known more by what we "do" than by some title.
But then, secondly: Always beware of open letters. Always beware of an open letter.
"- like manner the fifth time with an open letter," verse 5, "in his hand;"
This letter was not primarily for Nehemiah, but it was written ultimately for the eyes and the attention of the king.
Sanballat once again shows his true colours. The application here is obvious; We will not have to wait long for false Christians to reveal themselves. Within this one verse, we realise the motive of Sanballat and Tobiah.
Somebody has said this: "Truth and time go hand-in-hand."
Give them enough time and truth will come out.
All we have to do is to remain faithful to the truth, and they will not be able to contain themselves those who are enemies.

But then, the content of the letter is in verses 6 and 7; now that the thing we know of the letter is first and foremost and the two verses describe what's in the letter is nothing but lies. The letter is written in of lies. It's not anything that reflects the truth. Sanballat again, like Satan, has no rules of combat, no rules of war. He uses lies to attack Nehemiah. And the enemy will use any and every means to achieve its wicked ends.
In John Chapter 8 verse 44 , the Lord Jesus speaks of the Devil, and says.
"When he speaks a lie, he speaketh of his own."
It is his own language, it is his native tongue, "for he is a liar, and the father," -a very strong language here, "and a father of", in other words, "he begets lies." He is the (pro challenger) of lying; he's the one that gives life to lies.
And here Sanballat attacks Nehemiah not with- and he doesn't care that they are liars because at the end of the day, Sanballat's goal is not for truth, and the enemy's goal is not for truth.
And when the Devil attacked the Lord Jesus, he lied. He told him at one point, that he would give him all the kingdoms of the world, number one they weren't his to give, and number two, they didn't have the power to give.
So, he couldn't do what he says, but afterwards, it was irrelevant. He's a liar and the father of it.
Now the lie number one: in the verse, "it is reported among the heathen," there was no such report. In fact, Nehemiah, in verse 8, says so. "There are no such thing as thou sayest." So Nehemiah responds and clarified himself. And the application here is important. We must remind ourselves continually of the attack of the enemy and the attack of the Devil and the attack of the spiritual wickedness against us will not represent a true picture even when it attacks our conscience and attacks us morally; it won't be according to truth. There will be an exaggeration of truth, yes, there will be certain things that the Devil can say ,

Absolutely, and exaggerates-
And I mean the exaggeration of the truth, too, is a lie. And when the enemy comes to us, there is no desire to remain truthful. So we must remind ourselves of that. [End of MP3](I had to chop this off beause the size of this file exceeded for uploading.)
If we want the Devil comes to and says, "You know, Samson, you're no good." It's not true. There was much good. The number one that's he was good was that "God has chosen me." It was not what the Lord says, when the Devil comes to attack Joshua, the high priest, and Zechariah, this is a brand plucked from the fire. A brand plucked from the flints.
